Youth Services
The major areas of activities of Youth Services Department are essentially focused at the Student - Youth section of the society. It is the Student-Youth, who represent the most vibrant, capable section of the society and are especially enthusiastic in moving forward for the sake of human welfare even sacrificing their own personal interests. The Youth Services Department has given special emphasis on providing training to the Student-Youth of our state to make them prepared for meeting up the demands of the day. Keeping this in view, the Youth Services Department is trying to expand the opportunities for availing different kinds of training. Thousands of Student - Youths have been receiving Computer/ Vocational Training from the low cost YCTCs / YVTCs.

Student - Youth festival is the largest cultural endeavour in our state which is organised all over the state by the Youth Services Department. Student - Youth festival is a unique platform for searching young talent. The West Bengal Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Foundation under the Y. S. Department accommodates the youth in adventure expedition and mountaineering programmes. Apart from this, programmes like scientific awareness and club activities are taken up regularly by the Y. S. Department. Actually, all the programmes of Youth Services Department are being formulated keeping in view the social demand and real scenario of the students and youths of the state.   

Sports
The main aim of the Department is to improve and develop sports infrastructure in the State, as also to search and nurture sports talents. With this in view, the department lays special emphasis on creation of sports facilities at the district, sub-division and block level, to ensure participation of maximum number in sports and games. Emphasis is also given to promote vulnerable sections like women, schedule tribes and schedule castes in sporting arena. With this object in view the sports department has given emphasis on creation of stadia chiefly in the districts and sub-divisional towns. This department has so far completed construction of a good number of stadia and swimming pools within the state, of which Yuba BharatiKrirangan is one of the biggest stadia in Asia where various national and international out-door games like – football, athletics are held and Netaji Indoor Stadium is meant for indoor games where national and international events are held.This year FIFA U-17 World Cup is being held in India from the 6th October, 2017 to 28th October, 2017. The Vivekananda Yuba BharatiKrirangan (VYBK) is one of the most important venues of this most prestigious tournament. The final match of the tournament will also be held here. Sports department provides grants to the West Bengal State Council of Sports, a wing of this department for promotion and development of sports and games. Grants are also provided to individual sports persons of national and international repute for their outstanding performances. This department also provides grants to different district sports councils for their various developmental activities in sports and games. This department executes its main function through its Executive Wing and Advisory Body viz., West Bengal State Council of Sports by sanctioning grants to that Institution.
