The State Government announced the 'universal electrification' of households namely "SarbaGriha Deep Prakalpa" (SabarGhareAlo) under Special BRGF scheme to achieve 100% household electrification in 11 backward districts of West Bengal namely Dakshin Dinajpur, Malda, Murshidabad, Birbhum, South 24-Parganas, Uttar Dinajpur, Purulia, Paschim Medinipur, Jalpaiguri, PurbaMedinipur and Bankura. An amount of Rs. 837 Crores has been received for this purpose up to 31st March 2013. This project's execution started in July 2012 and was likely to be completed within two years. Under this project 28214 villages, 21 lakh BPL households and 17 lakh APL households are likely to be electrified.
